2020 GABR Stars

Each year GABR Stars are selected to serve as ambassadors for the race. These individuals have received assistance through dollars raised by GABR teams and riders. They help us promote the race by sharing their stories of the impact that GABR has had on them. This year our GABR Stars are:

Lily Ford

For 8-year-old Lily Ford, nothing beats showing off her dance moves in front of an audience. She loves music and performing and doesn’t let anything stand in her way – least of all her cerebral palsy.

“There are things I don’t know if she’ll be able to do, but she just proves me wrong,” said Lily’s mom, Nicole Ford. “I want her to continue to strive for independence and get to do all the normal, typical things other girls her age are doing.”

With regular treatment at Sanford Children's Pediatric Therapies, Lily has made great progress including learning how to do daily tasks like eating on her own and gaining strength for changing positions and walking with the assistance of a walker.

Every day, she’s able to live more fully and independently, thanks in part to supporters of the Great American Bike Race (GABR) who have helped the Ford family purchase vital equipment for Lily.

By supporting GABR, you help kids like Lily continue to dance through all life’s struggles.

Seth Emineth

Seth Emineth has faced a lot in his short life, including 24 surgical procedures and other challenges that come from life with cerebral palsy. But today, Seth’s just like any other 16-year-old, busy making it through his sophomore year at Legacy High School.

“He gets along with everyone,” said Seth’s grandma and primary caregiver, Sue Wingerter. “He’s a very friendly kid and wants to please and be friends with everyone.”

Seth has made great progress, graduating from both speech and occupational therapy at Sanford Children's Pediatric Therapies. Walking has been the biggest struggle, and Seth continues to work to reach his goal of walking on his own with physical therapy twice a week.

Through it all, supporters of the Great American Bike Race (GABR) have been by Seth’s side, helping with costs not covered by insurance associated with his many surgeries and an adaptive bike.

By supporting GABR, you help make anything possible for local kids like Seth.
