For the health and wellbeing of our community, this year’s Roger Maris All-Star Week events, scheduled for June 16-21, 2020, have been canceled due to the ongoing risks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This decision was made out of an abundance of caution after visiting with the Maris Family, the celebrity golf tournament committee and Sanford leadership. We hold the 35-year history of this tournament and the connections it has built for generations close to our hearts. Roger’s legacy at the cancer center is our steadfast commitment to healing and caring. We look forward to celebrating Fargo’s favorite son at our first ever Roger Maris All-Star Week in 2021.

About Roger Maris
Legendary baseball player and hometown hero Roger Maris loved his community. While everyone else in the world knows Maris as the man who held the world record for major league single-season homeruns from 1961 to 1998, we know him as the man who gave back to his hometown in more ways than can be counted.
The Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament began as a way to uplift his alma mater Shanley High School and raise money for local charities. Nearly four decades later, the tournament is one of the region’s premier events.
Although Maris lost his battle to non-Hodgkin lymphoma at age 51, his legacy lives on through this weeklong event and the lifesaving care provided at the Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, named in his honor. Since opening its doors in 1990, the comprehensive cancer center has and continues to bring hope to those in and around our region.
